The Summer Begins

Today is my second day of babysitting the kiddos, parent-free. Tyler is here with me, thank goodness, because I'm learning more and more each moment that this is really quite a two-person job. That would be due to Evelyn, of course. Evelyn is at school right now, so I'm typing this as Lindita toddles around the living room, happily chattering away at random toys and stopping now and again to watch the Dora episode that's playing on the television. She really is the best baby EVER. Evelyn, of course, is always on the go and in need of constant attention and participation in whatever game or imaginary adventure she's obsessed with at the moment.

Tyler is a big hit with the girls! They compete for his attention like schoolgirls with crushes. Everything with them is Tyler Tyler Tyler. It's pretty adorable, although rather exhausting for the poor boy. If by the end of the summer his sanity is still intact, it will be nothing short of miraculous.

Some babysitting experiences:

First: Lindita said her very first sort-of sentence! (Other than "There it is!") Yesterday, she loudly proclaimed "Want play Tyler!" Not long after, they had this exchange:
Deeter: "No no no no no!"
Tyler: "Yes!"
Deeter: "...Maybe."

Also, while I was at the chiropractor yesterday, Tyler took the girls into the backyard to play. As he pushed Evelyn on the swing ("Push me higher!"), Linda did her little Deeter thing, wandering around in the grass. As Tyler watched, puzzled, she rooted her arm around in the grass for a bit, and then pulled it up, her hand and wrist completely covered in some unknown substance. Tyler goes over to investigate. As he approaches, Lindita proudly holds up her arm, now swarming with ants, and beams. "Ants! Friends!" She then looked down sadly as Tyler frantically brushed away the insects. "Friends go..."

On Thursday, Tyler and I leave for our next musical festival! Hopefully, we will have a little bit better luck with this one than with the last. Car explosions, forgotten tickets (my bad), wet blankets and shoes, lost cash (my bad again...but I only lost like 200 dollars), rock-hard sleeping ground, and arctic night-time temperatures were a little of what we went through. We still had a blast, of course, but this time we are a little bit better prepared. We have MY car, which is much more explosion-proof, more blankets, an air mattress, and Tyler is going to be in charge of the money. We're also a little bit more stocked up on food, which is also quite a bonus.

Today, I go to get my hair done! I'm getting the tips dyed as bright a blue as they can give me. I figure...if not now, then when? It's time to live it up! Be on the edge! Rebel. Hopefully I will like it!

That's all for now...I'll try to start updating semi-regularly, in order to relate the newest and cutest Evelinda stories!
